Job Description

GemPool are working with a growing SaaS company to hire a VP of Engineering. This is a player-coach role, leading a team of engineers while also contributing directly to product development.

The Role

As VP of Engineering you will scale the engineering function, drive technical standards, and help shape product delivery. You will sit on the leadership team and collaborate closely with product, sales, and customer success.

Key responsibilities include

• Leading and mentoring a team of 6+ engineers while contributing hands-on
• Working with other teams to shape upcoming features
• Defining deliverables, estimating timelines, and planning development cycles
• Reviewing progress and unblocking team members
• Performing code reviews and mentoring junior engineers
• Attending weekly in-person leadership meetings in Dublin HQ

What we’re looking for

• 8+ years’ experience building full-stack web applications (at least 3 years with Ruby on Rails)
• Previous team and project leadership experience in an agile environment
• Growth mindset and eagerness to learn
• Strong ownership, communication and time management skills
• Degree in software engineering, computer science or similar is a plus but not required
• Passion for Ruby on Rails is a major plus, as is an interest in sport
